I’m thankful for a clean living room. Jensen is terrified of the vacuum cleaner, so we have a standing arrangement every weekend in which Nathan hangs out with Jensen for 20 minutes (usually locked in his room or outside of the house) so that I can actually vacuum! Of course it’s back to chaos within minutes of Jensen’s return, but every weekend for a half hour or so, I get to enjoy a clean, organized space :)
Thankful - Day Thirteen
I’m thankful for washable crayons. Jensen hasn’t mastered the technique of keeping crayon on the paper yet. We have a few wall murals like this one. I bought washable crayons today so that I could give the magic erasers a break.
Thankful - Day Nine
Halloween Festivities 2011 (Part One)
Last year, I went to a Costumed Lunch with my mom’s group and we all took pictures of our adorable babies. This year, of course we had to repeat the tradition (although a costumed breakfast was more convenient because the toddlers now nap at noon). This year, Jensen was a little cowboy. Can you believe how cute he is?
Unfortunately he was so busy playing that he didn’t really want to pose for pictures, but I managed to catch shots of him staring at the fountain,
running away from me dancing, and hugging his friends.
It’s hard to believe that in just one year my little bud has grown from this adorable little babyinto my very own cowboy!
Jensen loves to brush his teeth and hair (especially simultaneously). Earlier this month, I picked up a pair of bunny ears for 50 cents at a garage sale. Jensen was determined to wear the bunny ears whilst brushing his teeth, because what could be more awesome than that? This is how we do Saturday mornings. My kid cracks me up.
Flying with a toddler?!?!?!
A week from tomorrow, we’re flying to India to visit my parents and brother.
I need tips and tricks for surviving 21 hours on a plane (not to mention layover time) with a 19 month old! Please?
Another one … because it’s been too long since I posted a pic of my cute kid!

The cutest words you’ve ever heard, and this is how they go:
Jensen says the words listed above regularly and (most of the time) accurately! Other words that I think he has said, or has only said once or twice include:
- vroom vroom
He uses the hand signs for “more,” “milk,” “drink,” and waves “hi” and “bye.” He has also started pointing at his diaper after he poops in it (his own idea).
Jensen does a lot of sing-songy noises on “baba” or “nana”, sings the “ba-bum” sound (sometimes on the sol-do interval) when he puts things away, and has started attempting to imitate tonal patterns.
It is so much fun to witness his vocabulary and understanding grow exponentially every day. I love being able to communicate with him and feel like he is understanding what I say.
So now I’m going to repeat myself, as I have at every stage in the parenting journey so far: this is a really fun age! I love being a mom.
